The start of VCA*(**), VCU certification and NEN 4400-1 & 2 Inspection
Your partner with business intelligence!
The VCA*(**)/VCU Checklist is a means for companies and their employees to search for possible weak spots in safety care and subsequently improve these. The VCA checklist for contractors is available in the form of a checklist VCA* and VCA**. The VCA* is meant for companies with less than 50 employees. The VCU checklist is drawn up for Temporary Employment Agencies.
One of the advantages of the VCA-Certification for the company is that the VCA Contractors Checklist is an excellent tool / instrument for you and your employees to search together for the weak spots in health and safety within your company. It will lead to a more careful way of working, less accidents, less damages and the savings resulting from that. The certificate will provide security to the client. As the saying goes “you can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs”, there will be risks. Making these risks manageable is not only a task for the company, but also for the entire organization. That is to say that management and employees carry a corporate responsibility.
VCA*(**) / VCU requirements
The requirements the VCA*(**)/VCU checklist of the contractors should comply with, are drawn up by the Central College of Experts VCA. The secretariat and management of the logo are in the hands of the Foundation Cooperation for Safety (SSVV). On the basis of the VCA*(**)/VCU checklist the entire organization will be carefully scrutinized, from policy to performance. An insight into unsafe or high-risk tasks will be given. Also clearly mapped out are any possible unclearities and where extra inspections will be necessary in future.
Who works on a safe working situation is showing willingness to invest in the organization and safety. The commitment of the employees will grow and positive signals will be given to the clients. By cooperating on VCA*(**)/VCU – certification, risks will decrease, people will be more careful and less damages caused by accidents will occur, thus more profit.
Safex Certificatie is recognized
The VCA*(**)/VCU certificate and NEN 400-1 & 4400-2 inspection are to be provided exclusively by certification companies that have earned official recognition for this from the RvA. Safex Certificatie is recognized. The work-process of Safex Certificatie is therefore checked on expertise, reliability and independence.
The procedure for VCA-certification connects with procedures for other forms of certification, such as quality management and environmental management systems. After receipt of the application, Safex experts will check the VCA*(**)/VCU system or NEN 4400-1 & 4400-2 requirements and the corresponding documents and the work plan for the VCA*(**)/VCU and NEN 4400-1 & 4400-2 requirements. If this turns out to be all right, Safex will, together with the company, take a look at the activities in the company and at the work location. As soon as compliance with all relevant VCA*(**)/VCU and NEN 4400-1 & 4400-2 requirements is proven in writing and in practice and the company enters into a certification agreement with Safex or an inspection agreement, Safex will subsequently grant the certificate. To be able to guarantee safety care in the long run as well, Safex will pay an annual follow-up visit with regard to VCA/VCU. A reevaluation will take place after three years.
For NEN 4400-1 & 4400-2 an inspection will take place every 6 months in the first three periods. After that the follow-up frequency will be determined by the Dutch Labour Standards Foundation (SNA). This will be based on the risk profile of the company. The determined frequencies are: once per 3 months, once per 6 months or annually.
Costing amount of the certification procedure depends on the complexity of the organization, the sort of certification, the size of the company and the number of branch offices implicated in the application. This determines the duration and the costs involved in the application. Safex will always present a cost and time estimate beforehand.
